About the Role
The Driller is responsible for operating a variety of piling equipment including, excavators, truck mounted drilling equipment, and track mounted drilling equipment. The Driller plans daily installations, reviews construction documentation, evaluates site conditions, anticipates and solves potential installation issues and assures standards of safety and quality are consistently met or exceeded while maintaining the timeline of the project schedule.
Requirements
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Operate a variety of piling equipment to install continuous flight auger (CFA) and cast-in-place (CIP) piles.
May be required to operate a variety of support equipment such as skid steers, wheel loaders, concrete pumps, and manlifts.
Delegate, supervise and assign work to crew members on site.
Provide training and mentorship to new hires and current labourers/equipment operators
Read and interpret construction drawings, pile schedules and pipe tables.
Operate company vehicles and equipment safely, efficiently and according to operating manuals and legal requirements.
Complete pre and post trip inspections on trucks and trailers; correct and report all defects immediately.
Care for and maintain company vehicles and equipment.
Practice proper, legal load securement.
Participate and lead in ongoing hazard assessments, daily toolbox meetings and inspections including all required safety documentation and paperwork as per company policy, site requirements and OH&S obligations.
Report on site accidents, incidents and near misses.
Provide on the job training and mentoring for Junior Driller.
Foster a teamwork environment, leading by example and assisting others as required.
Work closely with the Logistics Supervisor and General Superintendent to consistently deliver quality service to customers.
Maintain positive public image of the company with appropriate personal conduct and by operating company vehicles and equipment in a professional and courteous manner.
Adhere to all company policies and procedures in relation to both safety and quality.
Contribute to the development and subsequent revision of company policies and procedures.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
3+ years of experience operating piling rig equipment; Watson, Excavators, or Soilmec experience
5+ years of experience operating support equipment; skidsteers, wheel loaders, concrete pumps, and manlifts
Knowledge of piling industry processes, procedures and policies
Mechanical aptitude
Survey and layout experience an asset, specifically total station and/or builder’s level
Alberta Class 5 (or higher) driver’s license, driving abstract that contains no more than 5 demerit points and 1 collision
CSTS 2020 Certification
Global Ground Disturbance, Level II Certification
Standard First Aid, Level “C” CPR Certification
Leadership for safety excellence, H2S, Fall Protection, Elevated Work Platform, OSSA/CSO an asset
Defensive Driving, Hours of Service and Cargo Securement Certificates asset
